Coming This Weekend: Food & Wine Classic in Aspen

By West of 105 staff

Every June for the last four decades, North America’s gastronomic glitterati have descended on one of the world’s most famous ski resorts for the Food & Wine Classic in Aspen, one of North America’s most well-known food culinary festivals.

Winemakers and former NBA stars Channing Frye and Carmelo Anthony and current New Orleans Pelicans player CJ McCollum will host a panel about how their wine brands are changing the wine industry. Pictured is Dwayne Wade with Anthony and McCollum from 2022. Photo: C2Photography/FOOD & WINE.

Kicking off Friday, June 16 and running until June 18, it’s a veritable “who’s who” of culinary icons, with masterclasses, workshops, and seminars among a plethora of other events. There is, of course, also the grand tasting. Taking place at a number of venues across Aspen, you can expect to see Andrew Zimmern, Bobby Flay, Guy Fieri, Marcus Samuelsson, and Little Nell alum Bobby Stuckey, among other industry icons.

While regular tickets are already sold out for this year’s event, there are a few separately ticketed and free events that are still possible to attend. Free, publicly available events include:

  • Taping of an episode of American Public Media’s “Splendid Table” hosted by Francis Lam at the Wheeler Opera House on Friday, June 16. Tickets will be issued on a first come, first served basis.

  • Panel hosted by NBA star and winemaker CJ McCollum and winemakers and former NBA stars Channing Frye and Carmelo Anthony on how their brands are changing the industry for the better. Hosted by the Wheeler Opera House on Friday, June 16. Tickets are also first come, first served.

Separately ticketed events include:

  • Rarest of the Rare: A Special Tasting of Highly Collectible Bourbons and Whiskies with Nate Ganapath at the Hotel Jerome on Friday, June 16. Tickets are $2,000 and can be purchased by visiting classic.foodandwine.com/experience/events.

  • Juneteenth celebration featuring wines from black vintners and importers hosted by Aspen Meadows on Sunday, June 18th. Tickets are $125 and can be purchased by visiting aspenmeadows.com/dining/juneteenth.
